Effects of the stroke depends on where is the stroke, how big is the stroke and what is the duration of the stroke. We have got lot of patients who have got sudden onset of weakness of the hands and they are very small minor blockage in the brain where we treat appropriately with the appropriate medications and they improve completely. Whereas patients on the onset come with the largest or the biggest stroke and they take a long time to recover. The implications are if the right hand is involved obviously they will not be able to sign like before, they will not be able to work like before, they will not be able to type like before. So basically the long term effects of stroke depends upon where exactly is the stroke, how big is the stroke. The smaller the stroke, better the recovery, the bigger the stroke, the recovery takes time and some deficits may be left behind. The patient may walk with a limp, the patient may not be able to use his hand like before. Patients voice may change, the way he talks may change or he may not be able to see clearly. So it all depends on the site, the location, the size and the duration of the stroke.
