59:57 shoot shit half-life Alyx was already in production at this time?? No wonder it was so polished they don’t have some parent company pushing faster release dates and trend chasing. They ARE the parent company

  2. Dotken on January 3, 2021 at 9:57 pm

wonder what 33:33 1frame of cd keys ment

  3. Erratas on January 3, 2021 at 9:59 pm

    Inspiring fact:
The "creepy" Intro with the man with a Valve for an eye means/symbolizes "Open your eyes"
While the other one, with a man with a Valve behind his head means/symbolizes "Open your mind"

  13. Q7B on January 3, 2021 at 10:11 pm

Before this video released I didn’t finish half life 2 yet, when I heard the intro track just now again I checked, and to see that it’s actually from the same game just proves more half life is timeless and you can actually play it for an entire life.

  14. T0K3N SM0K3 on January 3, 2021 at 10:11 pm

nicely done man! saving black mesa as my next game to run through, cant wait to see just how different it is from the original!!

Minecraft: Am I a joke to you?

  19. Kelly Jubara on January 3, 2021 at 10:16 pm

What if all the brilliant programmers knew the current platform couldn’t handle all the chaos. I remember DM servers crashing and rebooting on too much. I still have a server sitting in my garage I havent powered up since 2012 to wich HL2 was already old news. I want to believe HL2 paved the way for what we play now.

  20. Noclip on January 3, 2021 at 10:16 pm

Thanks for watching our documentary on the legacy of Half-Life! Before you ask, yes we have a number of break-out videos coming from this. We’ll have a longer chat with Scott Smith about the history of Counter-Strike, a chat with Geoff about The Game Awards, Cory about God of War and a few more. Look out for those over the coming weeks. We also have a 40-minute behind-the-scenes feature available for Patrons and Channel Subscribers so if you want to watch that and help fund more docs like these, check out our Patreon: https://patreon.com/noclip – Thanks again for watching. Make sure to hit that like button, subscribe, spam your friends and tell your gran! (Caption inbound. We ordered them a week ago, still waiting. I guess this video was long.)

  21. Whip Tech on January 3, 2021 at 10:16 pm

Team Fortress 2 should be discussed. I still play 2fort capture the flag, and it seems to have a strong internet presence still, as I never have any issues playing with people from around the world. GREAT GAME, and should be discussed or documented.

  22. polityka nazw on January 3, 2021 at 10:16 pm

Wow, I hate almost everything about this ‘docu’. It’s like you can’t be creative without that one IP, lLike you just can’t create something new. Maybe that’s why we have this endless stream of subpar sequels, this fucking constipation. ‘This is why we can’t have nice things.’
All this talent and all this creativity put down the drain.
After seeing this I’m all for Valve distancing themselves from HL3. I undestand now.
    Fans truly are the worst

  23. Peter W on January 3, 2021 at 10:17 pm

With Half Life and Portal, Valve could have created or started a universe like the MCU…
Even Gordon Freeman looks like Tony Stark.

  24. HazardShocker on January 3, 2021 at 10:18 pm

And that VR project was Half-Life: Alyx

  25. Hyperbog on January 3, 2021 at 10:19 pm

Would be interesting to see a follow-up to this based on some of the comments made by some of the interviewees regarding Half-Life 3 or Episode 3. Now that Alyx is out–it again, like previous Half-Life iterations, changed the way the gaming industry viewed yet another digital medium – VR.

  26. james storr on January 3, 2021 at 10:20 pm

Oblivion was the game that changed my expectations of games

  27. blank frankie on January 3, 2021 at 10:23 pm

Half-Life rocked my world. I sunk hundreds of hours into the Uplink demo. On a 486. It was like nothing I’d ever seen or even thought possible. I must have modded the skill.cfg file in every possible way to change up the experience. I even started making up my own backstory in my head as to who I was and what was happening around me.

Also; frig off Randy. Anything you were ever involved in that was any good was good in spite of you, not because of you. You hack.

  28. Russell Wallace on January 3, 2021 at 10:23 pm

this would be the one game i would send money to, to continue

  32. David King on January 3, 2021 at 10:35 pm

Will all the half life games run under windows 98? Or to better phrase the question is… What is the oldest Windows os that would run all the half life games?

  33. Ordo ab Chao on January 3, 2021 at 10:36 pm

Half Life 1: Best multiplayer game ever.
Double shot shotgun, jumping across levels while gauss killing, pressing the airstrike button in crossfire, laser guided rocket launcher, acid trapdoor, mp5 noobtube, crossbow, laser tripmine
