When kicking he has his foot inward creating the perfect thrust when the hip is so rotated and. Gonna have some work tomorrow with the crawl and hip timing but I’ll get it. Been swimming 11 times now so excited! Getting addicted to my freestyle.

the video editing is very professional, very cool

  7. CHRIS DOMRES on October 29, 2019 at 11:36 am

Looks like the swimmer in the video is plopping his extended arm down on top of the water. I was taught not to "slap" my extended arm on top of the water, but to have the hand pointed and cutting through like a stab. Anyone know what is best?

This is bad technique – he’s doing a drill. Watch Jono van Hazel or Shelley Taylor Smith for an effective stroke.

Nathan Adrian is not a good example for teaching freestyle. He is a Sprinter. Explosive pushing and arm recovery style is not useful for newbies.in contrast, it has a High injury risk for beginners. By The way, his full speed in slow motion leads people performing incorrect swimming technique.

2:46 I wish I knew how much his legs are propelling him. Just looking at it, it looks like almost not at all. But then I see elite swimmers do their flutter board exercises, and they can kick faster than I swim, so their legs must be doing something.

I am struck by how much he catches-up (i.e., he really does not get far into the stroke on one side until the hand is about to enter the water on the other side).   He seems to swim like the typical catch up drill we all have done?  No?

  28. B Batjargal on October 29, 2019 at 12:07 pm

Nathan, definitely, Asian American sports ideal! Thank you, Nathan, for being a role model for us, Asian-Americans. It is not easy for us to succeed in the Big League US Sports. To those who do not know: Nathan’s father is white (Jewish, precisely), and his mother is Asian-American (Chinese-American precisely). Thank you, Mrs Adrian, you certainly raised a proud achieved son who is a role model for millions of Asian-American kids for years and decades to come! SIMPLE AND HUMAN THANK YOU, MRS ADRIAN!

  31. Ryan Price on October 29, 2019 at 12:09 pm

interesting how he keeps his arm in front until his trailing arm enters the water. seems like this would create extra drag?

  32. Lokra on October 29, 2019 at 12:11 pm

    very short arms

Music soundtrack totally unnecessary and distracting. Why do people always feel the need to dumb down things in this way?

  47. Eugene S. on October 29, 2019 at 12:26 pm

This is almost a catch-up drill that has nothing to do with Adrian’s racing technique. I guess Speedo just picked a wrong guy to demonstrate this kind of freestyle. I’d prefer to see the slow motion of him swimming his usual sprint stroke with proper timing rather than what we see here.

  48. Knights Of Ni on October 29, 2019 at 12:27 pm

I just can’t get the breathing right… Your arm should be stretched out still when you breath… I can’t do that for some reason. How

  49. Ville G on October 29, 2019 at 12:28 pm
