My mom had a stroke 2 months ago in front of me. I didn’t knew what a stroke was. She woke me up at 6am and her face was drooping, she couldnt walk or talk. She was slurring her words. She walked up 2 stairs to my bed room JUST for me to call 911 for her, she’s really strong and she’s 55. I’m only 17 (just turned last week) and that she’s not the same anymore.. 40% of her brain was damaged. She had a lung infection, blood clot, and internal bleeding and we were signed a DnR. She’s okay, but she’s not the same anymore. She has a brain of a 3 year old, she’s always in pain, and she doesn’t understand but she can recognise and speak few words.

Can’t a person just shake these things off with positive thinking and will power, or maybe a good SLAP up-side the head ?

I had no idea I was having a stroke. I had many TIA’s before my full stroke. Some of my stroke symptoms were vertigo and vision loss. I told my story on my youtube channel of what is was like before during and after.

When I had mine I didn’t even know, the right side of my face got numb and the next day when I woke up that side of my face was droopy. I was pregnant with my first child, and I was only 19. I went to my Dr and he told me it’ll have to be treated after the baby is born so when my water broke my Dr wasn’t even there he was on vacation because he thought I wouldn’t go into labor until that next week. So after I had my son I didn’t go back. I went to a different clinic. 🤷 I wasn’t being petty or selfish, I barely even made it to my appointments.

i thank this vid for teaching me how to recognize a stroke. turns out, my neighbour was having a stroke for 5 months and no one had a clue! we took her to the hospital right away (of course against her will, she was incoherent because of the stroke, yelling at us and all). they checked her mental health there too, turns out, she has schizophrenia! one less neighbour to bother my family, a few more to go<3
