Device to help stroke patients recover hand movement
Device to help stroke patients recover hand movement
Neuroscientist Professor Stuart Baker describes a new electronic device which could help stroke patients recover movement and control of their hand.
They believe this could revolutionise treatment for patients, providing a wearable solution to the effects of stroke.
The device which is the size of a mobile phone, delivers a series of small electrical shocks followed by an audible click to strengthen brain and spinal connections.

As a stroke survivor who’s recovered most basic functionality but remains very frustrated by my affected hand, I’m really interested. How do I get access to this tech?
This looks to be quite the same as a TENS unit which is now available without a prescription. I’m no doctor but I do have extensive experience w/ TENS units back when an RX was required. If this isn’t the same, how is it different? Electrical pulses are just that… the difference is placement of the leads, in my opinion.
Is this treatment similar to tens/ems please?
