20 THINGS NOT TO SAY IN A TATTOO SHOP⚡Forbidden phrases according to tattoo artists

Being a tattoo artist is totally amazing. We get to work with people, draw every day, listen to cool music at work, and hang with our amazing crew. We are very privileged to be able to make our living from drawing art on people´s skin. But there is a catch. We do have our negative triggers. And I am going to explain why. I want a tattoo on my forearm itd be my first tattoo but, I don’t know how much it would cost to get the one I want and how much I would need to save up to get it..

  4. Sheree Barnes on September 20, 2021 at 9:51 pm

I remember getting my calf done (knee to ankle) and this 18-19 year old girl and her friend came in and asked for a butterfly, so the tattooist drew it up and they started, as soon as he put the stencil on she started crying "it hurts so much already" her friend was holding her hand saying "it’s ok babe just breath through it" I couldn’t help myself Reace(my tattooist) and I just burst out laughing🤣🤣
Her tattooist did so well to keep composed and just said "im going to start now, the first line might be a bit of a shock" she just looked so puzzled and took a breath in and he started and she yelled and moved her leg, he didn’t even move he gun to her he just turned it on! 🤣🤣 she said "I changed my mind I can’t get it" he just said "THANK GOD"!

I had to keep rewinding because I kept getting lost in those gorgeous eyes. Love the way you wear your makeup. Your tats look great!!!
To me, tattoos are simply the visual extension of my artistic personality. I love quotes with unique designs.

The only question I ask a tattoo artist is if they have a heavy hand or a light/medium hand. Because a heavy hand will scab and you’ll have to get it touched up.

  15. Matthew L. King on September 20, 2021 at 10:00 pm

On the subject of price, if I’m someone who has never had a tattoo and I don’t know if I can afford it, why wouldn’t I come in and ask how much? This is not a moment to get irritated, this is a moment to teach someone new to tattoos about what goes into the art. They won’t necessarily know how long it takes or what your rate is based on your skill, any other of the factors you’re referring to. You need to educate them. It’s called "qualifying the sale". I worked in car audio for years. Not everyone knew what went into putting a high quality sound system into a car. I never got annoyed when someone came in and simply asked "How much to puts a killer sound system into my car?" I simply started to ask them qualifying questions that let me know what kind of system they would want or could afford.

Getting annoyed with a customer when they ask you how much is really a poor attitude to have in a service business. I get that you’re an artist, but you also are in business to serve the public. They aren’t there for you, you are there for them. If I came into my shop and you gave me an attitude when I asked for a quote, I’d turn around and leave and never come back. I don’t care how good an artist you may be, but giving your customers an attitude right off the bat for asking a very basic question is just a really bad way to do business and it represents your industry poorly. I’m someone who does have some idea of what goes into getting a really detailed tattoo, but I still have no idea how much it would cost, so it would be one of my first questions.

I’m a tattoo virgin but i love tattoos grew up with my dad teaching me art n what all tattoos represent for most its a open book to a story of someone’s life n what they gone through….. tattoo is art its not something to be scared of or ashamed….. I don’t understand why alot of ppl get scared with individuals that are tatted.. its not like they’re going to rob u or kill u..my first tattoo I’ve been wanting to get Embroidery tattoo along my hand up half way to my elbow skin color with hidden areas with led of my kids names…… n then a geometric tattoo of my sign Aquarius then when my parents pass last 2 tatts of their last words to me in a voice-mail so I can scan it with my phone n listen to their voices when I miss them

    Number 1, I hate tattoos 😂

  19. DaShneeko on September 20, 2021 at 10:12 pm

Number 20 hits close to home with me. I got a 6 hour tattoo less then 24 hours after breaking 6 ribs. It wasn’t fun for me, but my tattoo artist and I had no idea until the next day when I got X-RAYS. She’ll probably tell the story of the guy she tattooed with 6 broken ribs and didn’t complain to everyone who complains for the rest of her career

  20. Tec Lis on September 20, 2021 at 10:14 pm

Tats and Clothing are two different things… not to mention a Tattoo is not PERMANENT anymore… u can literaly head to any Tat shop and have it removed, my local does it free of charge.. the value of tattoo should not be dumb expensive anymore, for the simple fact that it can NOW be freely removed.

Just come across your channel as I’ve not been in a tattoo parlour for over 18 years. Im wanting a cover up on the top of my arm about a 6 inch diameter of a past tattoo ive tried to have lazered off but still shows. I was thinking of a cover up and extending it down my arm to end up as a sleeve. But after watching your vlog I was going to ask thar exact question of a ball park figure so I know approx the cost of it. As I say its been a while since my last tattoo. But now I don’t want to ask if its as general as you say so I’m still not sure about it. I sort of know what I want but would like some input from the professional as best ways to get it. Thanks for sharing your vlog 👍👍

Pink is definitely your color!… VERY pretty on you…

  29. Neisha D on September 20, 2021 at 10:25 pm

The alcohol thing makes so much sense to me now. I went on a week long vacay and when I got back, I got a half sleeve and I bled A LOT.

  30. skate dd on September 20, 2021 at 10:25 pm

How much is a sleeve.. makes my blood boil😡

  31. Lena on September 20, 2021 at 10:26 pm

You look STUNNING with the pink eyeshadow! I looove the mix of typical feminity with tattoos, so gorgeous.

  32. Cassidy Morrison on September 20, 2021 at 10:26 pm

Some of these SHOULD be common sense, but there were also a few I hadn’t really thought about before. Good to know for all my future tattoos. Thank you for making this!

    I’m 😂😂😂 over this….
It’s been 10 years since my last tattoo and I’m going in for a few so I’m researching everything so I don’t go into my consultation looking or acting like an ass….
Very helpful and yet alarming people actually do or say these things..
    Love your channel!
    Thank you for the tips!

Wow everyone should see this if they are thinking about a tattoo. Most of my tattoos are 17 years old or older. I got a one to finish and I am checking my area as I am off grid outside of small towns. Till I decide 100% how I want the rest of this older tattoo finish. But with age comes if I get it I will still enjoy it. Love your tee shirt. Keep up the fantastic work.

  36. liss on September 20, 2021 at 10:31 pm

Number 3 could easily be "do you have anything youve drawn that youve wanted to tattoo on someone? Could i see what ya got?"

  37. Pat Trebble on September 20, 2021 at 10:32 pm

This is a great vid. I only have one tatoo that I got when I was 18. I am planning to get a much more detailed one at 43. Good advice. Also. Sexy

Still remember my first tattoo. Everyone was getting the Manchester Bee for charity so when I was 18 my mum gave me the go ahead
Myself, herself, her friend and her friend’s friend went along for the appointment.

Now bear in mind we were all supposed to get the same design originally.
2 of us (myself and my mum) left with the same tattoo we went in to get. All went well as far as that goes.
My mum’s friend went in with a Pinterest design that was accepted without incident.
The 4th person, idk if they even planned to get a tattoo, they were just constantly changing their mind.
Asking for different colours, variations etc when she was gonna be going in for the tattoo IN ONE HOUR. Left the shop with no tattoo.

Just got my second tattoo last week and much more pleasant experience without any indecisive tag-along ladies XDD

    Your comments on people’s

  48. Caro line on September 20, 2021 at 10:46 pm

I’d been one of those people asking you to draw something first and then I will decide on it but let me explain why: I never have gotten a tattoo, and before I was educating myself on artworks I plainly could not imagine how people come up with ideas and having already a worked out picture in their mind, and then bringing it on paper especially if the topic you are drawing does not really interest you. I am very untalented in drawing and for me drawing something is more a lucky coincidental attempt and maybe I happen to draw something "good" just by accident. You tell me to draw a shark and I am going to be lucky if it will look like a shark in the least. I always asked myself where tattoo artist get their ideas from and always figured they copy parts of different pictures that already existed because this is what my brain is capable of doing, but I would be just able to copy it the exact way and tattoo artists can transform it into their own style which is mesmerizing to me. Then I discovered that tattoo artist have a much more artistic brilliant brain that I am not capable of even comprehending (which btw sucks) and now I get the concept of me explaining my work to you and let you do your work and it will be good if I already like your art. But this question wasn’t meant to be rude or greedy, I just could not imagine that someone does not have to my sketches 50 times until they have the final perfect idea (you know ? that was a bit exaggerated)
