Your chest muscle strength could be weak while cardio health be amazing.

not exactly safe. I did a series of pushups of 50 reps without a problem. two months ago i had a second heart attack and yes unfortunately i am a smoker…

Um damn. I can get about 12 – 14 "proper" (head up chest to the floor) pushups in 60 seconds. I definately don’t feel good after the first 6. I am only 52 yo and definately too heavy at 200 LBS while only 5 foot 11. I better start getting my afairs in order.
The chest needs to touch the ground and head to feet in one line is considered as a push up, in my book that’s not even one.

I dont think this is a correct metric, considering the variability of muscle for everyone. May be it applies for firefighters since they need to be physically fit and significantly muscular to do their job! I found another study which was explained for Dr. Berg that uses a similar minute test to examine likely hood of being at risk of heart attack. It uses Resting heart rate, peak heart rate after a minute of intense exercise and the recovery heart rate after a minute of exercise. Rate of recovery from elevated heart rate inversely prop.to the risk of heart attack in future.
Head down cuts the range of motion by half, and then you aren’t even touching the floor, so those are basically 1/4 push ups.

What is the median line at what age? If I was 17 I’d do 150, at 27 I’d do 100, now at 75 I sure cant do 100? By the way, Bob is a lousy doer of push ups, never cut the Marine Boot Camp boys.. He did about 10 good ones?

40 push-ups in one minute is more or less….one push-up per second, which is pretty fast. The video should of displayed a clock in the corner during the exercising.

My gym instructor won’t count at least half of those pushups as an effective rep.
that nose needs to be touching the floor for it to count as a complete push up.
